Scappoose Historical Society Annual High Tea (05/19/2012)

Community Event

This year, the historical society is pleased to offer their version of an English high tea.

High tea typically consists of many courses. In this case, the Scappoose Historical Society is serving five courses, starting with sorbet, then soup, tea sandwiches and savory delights, scones and scrumptious desserts.

There will be live music appropriate to an afternoon tea and a free token gift to each guest.

Tickets are $15 per person and on sale through May 18.

We are returning to the Columbia County Fairground Pavilion and going over the "big top" with our theme, Cirque du Sacagawea. The evening includes dinner, desserts, hosted bar, entertainment, silent auction, and live auction by Mark Kuhn.

Watts House Annual Spring Tea

Our annual Spring Tea, actually a three course luncheon (11:30 AM – 2 PM), is now on its 12th year!

Held every year at the Watts House Pioneer Museum in Scappoose, this event is often used as a chance for women to get together and have an enjoyable afternoon with friends, but don’t let that discourage you fellows–you’re always welcome!

Extremely popular, many of our attendees return every year as part of their Mother’s Day celebrations.

Past years have included musical performances, storytellers and fashion shows.

Also, as part of the fun, a drawing will be held for a small gift. A tour follows for those who wish to see the Museum.

The food is always delicious and the service wonderful, so be sure to make this event a part of your year.

Everyone is invited to share in the parade experience. The parade begins at Hwy 30 & Columbia Blvd and continues into Olde Town St. Helens.

Interested participants can download a parade invitation and application from our web site at www.sainthelenskiwanis.org

We are hoping for many entries. Anyone can enter -- there is no fee to entrants. You can download the registration form at www.sainthelenskiwanis.org or register up until 10:30am on the parade day.

We do encourage pre-registrations. If you entered last years parade then you will be mailed a registration packet without having to request it.

The South Columbia County Chamber of Commerce Wings & Wheels Team, in partnership with the Port of St Helens, Columbia Aviation Center and Northwest Antique Airplane Club is very excited to bring you the 2nd Annual Wings & Wheels, Columbia County's Premier Summer Event!

The one day event will feature a Fly-In, Cruise-In and Model Train display with a potential of 3,000 - 5,000 visitors in attendance. In addition to these attractions, there will be a Columbia County Business Expo where county wide businesses will showcase the products and services they offer to the community at large.

Admission will be $5.00/person, children under 7 are free. There will be a $20.00 family cap on admission (Rules do apply). Parking is free. All admission proceeds benefit the South Columbia County Chamber of Commerce.

The event is being promoted throughout the Portland Metro area and on a variety of aviation related websites to draw in visitors from around the state.

Columbia County has a wonderful story to tell about the benefits of doing business outside the Portland Metro Area. We would like you to join us in telling your story to the visitors attending this event at the same time you promote your products, crafts, and services.

Climb aboard as the annual Portland Pirate Festival sets sail for two exciting days of piratical fun and family adventure while we invade the historic waterfront of St. Helens, OR. The Festival weekend begins on Saturday, September 1st and ends on Sunday, September 2nd and features all of the fun and excitement it has become famous for, with the awesome addition of more access for boaters!

If you’ve ever dreamt about Treasure Island or longed for a peg leg and a shoulder-perching parrot, rush to this incredibly fun festival. St. Helens is turned into a pirate village peopled by costumed attendees and featuring cannon fights, all sorts of Music, entertainment, food and drink (a pint of ale, anyone?) and 2 markets featuring all things nautical, historical, and pirate-related (down to buccaneer hats, swords, and garb for endangered damsels).
